to provide young people with the training and education essential to provide them with the skills necessary for medium-level work and postsecondary education.
The senior high school that has the name Kalpohin can be found right in the middle of Tamale. It shares a border with the Kalphin Estates neighborhood. As part of the Educational Reform initiative that took place in 1987, Kalpohin Senior High School became one of the many newly established Senior High Schools in order to accommodate the ever-increasing number of students who were graduating from Junior High School (JHS). Today, the school is known simply as Kalpohin Senior High School.
It first opened its doors in 1991 as a coeducational day school with an initial enrollment of one hundred and eighty (180) pupils. This included fifty-seven (57) female students and one hundred and twenty-three (123) male students, and there were nine (9) members of the teaching staff.
The motto of the school is: ‘DISCIPLINE AND HARD WORK’ with a logo containing a Book, a cutlass, and a broom signifying Discipline and Hard Work.
